I know that it looks messy, but it cleans up nice. It is almost to half-way its finished height. This will be the firebox, I will line it with fire brick. The opening at the top will hopefully be a good place for a pizza oven.

The next few layers
I started off using quick dry mortar. That was a mistake. It dried too quick and it was hard to place the bricks on correctly. I switched to regular mortar, and the project is coming along nicely! I had to buy a wheelbarrow for the project (as seen in the picture). I found one for $15 on KSL.
Building a Pit
I know it's not a barrel, but this is the start of my BBQ adventure. I decided to make a brick BBQ pit for my first project. I want to show my progress in building it. I bought the brick from a used brick dealer in Ogden for a great deal. This is my first time using brick, so I am sure there will be a lot of trial and error.
